IN CLASS MOVEMENT BREAKS

Updated: 3 days ago

Managing movement breaks for multiple students can be a real challenge.

When students are dysregulated, their nervous system is prioritising safety over learning, making it harder to focus, engage, and process information. Supporting regulation first is essential. However, leaving the classroom, interrupting learning, and managing time pressures can make this difficult to implement consistently.

But regulation doesn’t have to mean leaving the room. Whole-class movement strategies offer a practical, inclusive approach—supporting all students’ nervous system needs while maintaining connection to learning. By combining movement, breathing, and deep pressure, these activities help regulate the nervous system and support a calm, organised state for engagement.

We’ve created a set of ready-to-use resources to help you implement this easily in your classroom. Good luck and let us know how you get on!
